Artistry Doesn’t Have to End in Your 50s

“Being an artist doesn’t start because you’re 21, and it doesn’t end because you’re 51.
You are who you are until the day you die.”

Champions Aren’t Made in Gyms

“Champions aren’t made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them—a desire, a dream, a vision.
They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will.
But the will must be stronger than the skill.”’
~ Muhammad Ali
a.k.a Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr.,
Boxer & Heavyweight Champion of the World (1964-1979, 3X)

I Went Merrily to the Bank

“If you can’t ‘Bank’, there’s no need to work.  If I want to do a charity or freebie, I will choose that on my own.
But, basically, I work to see “Okay, the nut is cracked what do I have left to put into the bank?”
Because the bottom line is to capitalize on my health and success, or popularity, at this moment;
because it’s not promised to me in the future (and to prepare for that future).
Even if I become more so, there’s no one to promise that to me.  I’d be a fool to cry later and say,
“I can’t pay my bills; I don’t have anything.”, and whatever.  I don’t want to be one of those people.
I want to say, “Look, when it was time to make hay, I made it.  I’m like a little ant, I went merrily to the bank and put it away.””
~ Lola Falana

You’re Famous for What?

“There are so many famous people now that are
not really gifted or talented at doing anything
other than getting made up, putting on tight dresses, acting badly, getting married.
I mean, what the hell? I don’t know where we are
going with this here in America. And we are setting a tone
for the world, because everyone looks at what we do.”
“There was a time when fame meant that you were either
someone who is really gifted in your field or you were making an impact,
or you are famous because you were a really horrible person, you know?
But now, you can become famous by eating a frog. It’s just not the same thing.”
